Sunday Thoughts
It was a good Sunday overall with coffee to start the day. I made my son a huge stuffed omelette before he set out for work, and I had avocado toast and an egg. My older daughter came over before my sister picked me up to meet others car pooling to a town northwest of the cities for a family graduation party. I made chocolate chip pan cookies and these little s'more snacks to add to the dessert bar. They proved popular with kids and teens. On line they got mixed reviews. I had already wrapped them up with the pan cookies on a large disposable tin, so the pictures not great. There's about three dozen. There should have been more but I kept breaking the crackers. I also ran low on chocolate after going overboard on the pan cookies.
Pup finally slept through the night, from 11:00 after one more bathroom trip, until after 7. I thought he made it without an accident, but he had one right after he woke up barking and before I got him out. I've been gating him in the kitchen, both in case of accidents since I can clean up and mop easier, but also as it's the safest room when he aimlessly wanders with his very poor sight, and likely a bit of dementia creeping in. He can fall down stairs or get stuck anywhere but in the kitchen. I put a couple old towels to make a bed, but they also serve for soaking up potty before a clean and sanitizing mop. It's getting tiring for all of us, but I think for him as well.
I've got a slow week ahead but am determined to get some more purging done as my son is whitling his own things before moving items Friday. I've things to pass on to him to both help my space and fill in gaps such as some baking dishes, coffee mugs, and blankets. He's going to be quite discriminating though in what he accepts as he doesn't want my clutter. I'm meeting a friend in St Paul Thursday so can drop off a donation load on route. Bring on June.
Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly today, it's now going to be busier with a plumber visit and an airport run a d extra Sunday of doggie day care.
DeleteHere's to June.
ReplyDeleteI think it'll be a good month. June always feels like a fast month.
DeleteYour bakes look delicious
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
The s'mores are more a spread and dip, so pretty basic.
DeleteI'm sorry that Pup is having troubles. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies and s'mores look delicious. So exciting for your son; I hope the move goes well.
I did some purging and asked my son and dil if they wanted a fondue pot, but they said no. ;)
Hope you have a good week.
Its a hard time either him but we have a lot of joy still. He loves his outdoor wanders. No accident last night! Fondue seems to be a thing of the past. My SILs family dies for their immediate family Christmas but I don't know anyone else that prepares fondue.
DeleteVery sad about your pup. I’m a cat person but I feel for any animal in their later life. They can’t tell us how they feel. You are doing the best you can for him. Barbara M.
ReplyDeleteHe's got good moments still. He loves being genuinely outside.
DeleteIt is so hard to see our elderly pets struggles. I’m sure he feels his family’s love.
ReplyDeleteI hope he does. The getting trapped is frustrating to him.
DeleteThose s'more treats look like they would be a hit. Nick is going to need a few kitchen supplies, and my friend in Denver has a bunch she will pass on, based on what we've discussed. We will likely keep it very limited, as I don't envision him getting up to much cooking, but he will need the basics. Hope the move out & purging is going well for your son, and sending good thoughts for pup. - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteGood knife or multiples, cutting board are essential and often overlooked in new young persons kitchen. Good glass storage warehouse for reheating or keeping leftovers are good items to stock.
DeleteIt's so hard to watch our furry friends go through health issues. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteYes, very hard. Last night was a doozy.
DeletePoor puppy, but that is very common in the time leading up to the end of a dog's life. Ours did the same thing.
ReplyDeleteWhen he's awake, he'll do this weird pacing in circles thing and because he doesnt see, bumps into things. We"ll see what vet says next visit.
DeletePoo pupper - it is heck getting older even with animals. They can't tell us in words what is going on, which makes it worse.
ReplyDeleteSnacks look good.
Have a good week.
Should say poor pupper!
DeleteIt's so hard to know what's he feeling. He doesnt seem in pain though a d enjoys outside.

DeleteThose treats look lovely - I'm glad they were a success. What with the sounds of you and your son's breakfasts I'm hungry and I probably won't eat for another hour and a half...arghhh!
ReplyDeleteAwww, doggy dementia. That must be hard, you are a wonderful pet mum. xxx
It's a pitiful sight, but im dkingcwhat I can to keep him safe. He's doesn't seem in pain, just very confused like you hear about dementia patients in memory care units as humans. Between my nice breakfast and food my niece served at grad party, Sunday was a foodie day!
DeletePoor Puppy.
ReplyDeleteGlad the baked goods went down well!
It was a rough night and challenging day.
DeleteTreats look delicious. I was so glad to receive things from folks when I moved, you must have good stuff to give away. Do you have a cheese grater for me in Toronto?! LOL. Sending love to pup <3 these times are not easy but he has so much love to give and receive.
ReplyDeleteFunny, cheese craters seem to disappear over the years. I splurged at few years back on a very nice OXO block grader with container for catching the cheese or vegetables being grated. He's welcome to almost anything!
