Wednesday Wellness Check In, June 18, 2025

Old picture, but trying to be more meal intentional.

I'm going using Wednesday again to check in, at least on first four.

Lose five pounds. I at least lost the addition weight the little Memphis get away added, but have not lost any additional. I looked over past doctor visits and in September 2024, I was at the lowest weight I have been in two decades. That's my target by fall again, so keeping these mini monthly goals alive is important. Then, I'll try for an even healthier weight.

Walk 10 miles per week. Fair. Some days the grand pup got 4 walks, shorter and other days 2-3, but longer.

Strength and weight resistance exercise two hours per week. Fail...must get better at this.

Ensure I have at least six fruit and veg servings per day with at least three being vegetables.  Lacking as well and too many carbs.

Resume 16-8 intermittent fasting, meals/ snacks only between 12-8, but aiming for nothing past 7:00. The 8:00 gives me flexibility for nights like trivia that doesn't start until 7:00. Most days this has been the plan, though I admit to a bit of after 8 snacking.

Calorie deficit tracking. Big fail...I know some meals were way too calorie heavy. I need to focus the remainder of summer.

Stimulating content, I know but helps me realistically evaluate. I'm motivated in partnership with Tamara from The  Retirement Project and Hawaii Plan. Thank you both for your encouragement. To HP, shout out on the new job!! She's been a blogging friend for so long I feel I know her personally ( met on a Zoom call) so it felt like I was celebrating family when she shared her news. Well Done.

  1. Your realism hits home with my need for better daily evaluation ___ after TheHub gets back from the beach bakery with warm cinnamon rolls

    1. That would take every ounce of resiliency to pass on. No, I would never pass on warm cinnamon rolls.

  2. You’re doing great! I have a horrible time tracking calories, and I dislike vegetables! I have also been very bad about running or walking. In fact, I sort of lost my way. I think I need to just schedule it in my day like I would, say, taking a shower.
I truly enjoy HP’s blog. Like you I have been reading for years. She seems so kind and really pulled together. I was so happy to hear about her job!

    1. HP is awesome. I won't ever run, but walking is enjoyable and serves so many purposes in my life right now. I love vegetables so that's not hard part, it's making sure to prep and prepare.

  4. It's a marathon, not a sprint! Now that it is warmer, I have been eating like the hungry caterpillar for the last few weeks. Tasty, but means I have to work harder at the gym, lol! So I am aiming to go 4x this week again but we'll see.

  5. YAY! You enjoyed vacation and you've worked off the calories. Win Win!!!! A trick I have learned through reading and practice, as a menopausal chic, is if I want carb, eat them early/before noon. Only protein/veg after that. If I really want a pasta meal, it's an early lunch (following a light protein breakfast). You can do this. Recording in Cronometer really helped me for 3 years. I took it in 7 day outlooks of "at least breakeven my calories in/calories out". I measured and recorded every bite. I'm in year 4 and still have another 13 to go for my target of 73 pounds. You're developing a new lifestyle that is satisfying in every way :-)

    1. Yes,it's about being healthier, not just weight management. I don't want to be a burden on my kids.

  6. A few years ago, my friend told me what she did. She ate low carb vegetables. I have not even thought about that tactic for years. Maybe I should. Right now, I am contemplating doing exercises to improve my core. Weight loss is still at 60 lbs and have not lost more.

  8. Ahhh, thank you! We are super excited an our end as well. I do need to get back to fitness & health tracking & generally more movement, as I've sort of fallen off a click in the last week or two! Thanks for posting this, which gives me accountability as well. - Hawaii Planner

    1. I'm back to weighing myself daily. I need the immediate message for a less than good choice day. I know bodies fluctuate but not that much just water. My issue is still sneaky snacking. Must stop even if between my eating hours.

  9. Well done of shifting that holiday weight. I know several people who throw in the towel after a holiday weight gain and ruin all their good work. xxx

    1. I was guilty of that for 24 years, so now am paying the price. I'll never have my 30 year old body again, but I can be healthier and feel energized.
