June Wrap Up and July Plans

I don't think I made good use of June. To be fair, three of my plans were weather dependent and as fate had it, canceled due to pouring rain and some thunderstorms. This doesn't  include the everyday life things like pet care, garden and yard, cleaning, grocery and meals, and life admin. I'll seperate into three chunks to wrap up.

June 1-10

  • Happy Hour with a friend I don't see often
  • Helped son get u-haul van loaded  at my friends moms ( and a nice catchup with friend and mom after)
  • Zoom workshop by my daughter

June 11-20

  • Family book club
  • Mom's book club
  • Started PT (3 more sessions scheduled including this morning, just got a call and it'sbeen cancelled, so now probably just 2 more wirh an email consultation)
  • Happy hour with old work colleagues
  • Helped son with a few organization things then treated to tacos
  • Day trip to cabin with pup

June 21-30 ( I was really hard pressed to come up with anything to share to end the month as between heat and rain, I was very homebound.)

  • Watched a lot of World Cup games

Now onto July. We just had the 4th and on my end was mostly a mellow day. I went to my sisters for a bit with pup. I had grandpup yesterday and got to the river for a good walk and want to do more walks in more picturesque spots than my neighborhood. I've got a concert and overnight hotel stay coming up soon. I plan on a couple day trips to the lake with pup. I might change up the ride home with him and bring his bed, and settle him in the way back. He was too restless the last trip coming home and fell off the seat.

I plan on a couple evenings at the river for live music with a friend, maybe also a night of trivia. I've a meeting scheduled for financial planning. I'm hosting family book club towards the end of the month. Our towns annual "fun days"  are mid month though I'm a bit of a grinch and don't participate in much as it's crowded, often the hottest days of summer, and loud. I like the craft fair and the performance by the marching band so will work those into the Sunday of that weekend once the drinking portion seens to wind down. The farmers market will start having more and regular produce so I'll make sure to stop on Tuesdays, but would like to do the large St Paul market too. I'll probably be spending time over the next few weeks and month helping my daughter clean, purge, and pack her apartment as she and her roomate are moving the end of August. Then there's my house project list, that may or may not happen.

  • Deep clean downstairs bedroom and bathroom, reset as guest room. I need new bedding for that room and will probably just go with a white fitted sheet and duvet with a throw blanket draped at end. (Inspiration from Meg B and friend G's Florida condo)
  • Paint trim around the garage door
  • Get estimates to fix or replace garage door opener
  • Fix mishap on the wall on the stairs going upstairs. There's a lot of sheet rock/ mudding cracking. I might need to hire this out.

  • Paint entry, entry wall, dining room wall, upstairs hallway, and accent wall after the fix. (To be honest, this is probably not going to happen but calling it out just in case some great burst of energy happens)
  • If above done, rehang/ hang family photos and portraits
  • Deep clean and touch up porch railing
  • Repaint shelf that sits on my porch, used in the past in a bathroom.
  • Steam clean the living room carpet and furniture.
  • Clean out my closet and put drawer and shelving unit inside and better organize. These were bought last spring originally intended for my daughters apartment.

Overall, I  need to use my July days much more intentionally than I used June. Watching less TV, going on more walks, reading more books, and just enjoying my own outdoor space as much as possible is my aim.

  1. I'm exhausted from all you list for July do's! My sole goal is to declutter and tidy up the basement...ok, so that's the goal for the next six months! It does sound like you had a relaxing June, so that counts as good I hope.

    1. Broken down it's only a couple jobs a week. Rxevution is always my issue. I don't feel like June was relaxing as there was noise that had to mentally be dealt with.

    1. No, it's what normal people deal with all the time. I just let things stack up, but really over four weeks it's just a couple projects each.

  4. I love getting in a good walk. By the river with pup sounds really nice. We were cleaning out more stuff downstairs yesterday and I got in over 12,000 steps as a result. I like days like that. A family book club sounds like so much fun! I would love to do something like that if my family is interested. What a great idea!

    1. We spent so much of our gatherings recommending a d passing around books, it seemed to be a good way to organize something g. Two sisters have two kindles so share downloads too if they buy. I have one too but try to stay with free downloads and libby.

  5. That is quite a list. Good luck to you. June was so very wet and hot here, so things outdoors kind of got set aside - only accomplished what had to be done.

    1. I think that was my June. Of course Ill gave the basics in July, but the list really is several half day but a few full day jobs so spread out over four weeks seems doable, with the painting the exception.

  6. I'm trying to figure out how I want to structure my time after I'm done at work - it's going to take some iteration I think to land on a good schedule that is fulfilling & enjoyable, but not overly scheduled & still productive. I'm a little worried I'll be reading & scrolling all day. - Hawaii Planner

    1. Ive had months Ive struggled with productivity...June being one. Realizing I have no travel scheduled and being g more home bkund just sort if deflated my ambition as I figure there's always the next day. I need so.e reason for deadlines.

  7. I am impressed with your to do list! I have been trying to declutter the kitchen slowly but surely. We have built in bookshelves and the 2 rows of cookbooks that I never look at really need to be winnowed down, In terms of activities, have you ever looked into learning how to play mah jongg? It has become quite the thing apparently. I learned how to play on a cruise earlier this year, and my daughter is also learning. I play once a month at a local Game Center which has beginner drop in sessions. The owners are very kind and helpful, and you can drop in without having a group to play with. They will find a table for you to join. There are lots of YouTube videos which teach you how to play, I was never a game player, but I think it is a good way to keep my mind active.

    1. Mah Jong on my phone. Nope, not looked into that. I feel I'm not ready for the places, like the Senior Center, which would hold those spaces. The game store in town has gaming tables though its the young set.

  8. Whoa! That’s a huge list!
I spent a lot of time squandering my time in June. July is filled with various civic events, so I need to be much more intentional with my time. Things should quiet down by August.

  9. You have a lot planned for July, and when you posted your June activities you had a better month than you probably thought you did.
I need some down time with fewer things planned.

  11. When I have a list like that I start with the smaller things to get some ticked off and give me some momentum. It works for me! We've had a lazy day today... I've done some more knitting for my niece's baby, caught up on some podcasts, done some cleaning, baked scones ( I used the airfryer and they turned out well) read in the sunshine and now I'm watching Wimbledon. I'm still easily tired despite feeling better.

    1. That's good strategy. Ive been tackling pet stains on the living room carpet this morning though it'll still need deep cleaning, but looks so much better. Ive scheduled different things with a back up for weather. Enjoy Wimbledon. I can't get it on any of our streaming g services and refuse to add another.

  12. Goodness, I thought my list was lofty! I think once the rain stops we can all make forward progress on certain projects. At least I hope so! I've noticed that some of the ones I put off only last an hour or so. I spend more time procrastinating than anything else. (:

    1. That's my thoughts; many are not that long. It's just listed that makes it seem like a lot when Im sure others get twice this amount done without thought.

  13. Sometimes just relaxing is a good use of time. Don't be so hard on yourself. You're still getting used to an entirely new routine and it does take time. I'm sure you'll tick a number of things off of your July list.

  14. It sounds as though you've got a lot planned for July! Hopefully, it won't be too hot for some of the walks. The summer seems to be flying by. I don't think I've got a lot done of what I planned
