Weekend-Week Ahead
We never got the rain, just little sprinkles until overnight. We need it even after last Sundays soak. I had both dogs ( and cats) as my daughter helped her cousin. She stayed over Saturday night so she and my son could ride together.
He's still picking through boxes he hauled from California and trying to discard what he doesn't want and make lists of what he needs. He, with help from his sister, successfully got the sectional couch, a couple book shelves, and dinette table hauled to the condo from my friends moms. What's left will fit in cars as they packed the cargo van full, and he'll bring as he goes rather than special trips. I said it was going to be a slow move in!

I got the front and sides mowed Saturday morning before it got too hot. I must get back done today and weed whack. The grass in some places will need the weed whacker too. I walked to the store Saturday odds and ends and produce for dinner and into the new week, but was pretty hot walking home weighed down with groceries and a bottle of wine. It was pleasant after the sun started going down last night, despite weeding not done, and I just sat outside while pup roamed aimlessly and I drank a glass of rose` wine while reading.
Yesterday was productive but in the house stuff and caring for pets. I realized I haven't done my personal laundry since before last weekend. I definitely have too many clothes! When outside with dogs, I did happenstance weeding of rock areas and hand cut around the hostas. The big dog hates the weed whacker so that was off the table.
At the risk of sounding like I'm complaining, I've got two pain in the butts/ unexpected expenses to deal with that came up over the weekend. One, the back outside faucet is dripping and I can't turn it to get it to stop. I had help try and they worried they'd break it turning any harder. I'm moving potted plants and a bucket to catch the water so not to waste. This was the spigot that broke when I was in Greece and cost a small fortune to fix. Calling them this morning is my first task.
Second, my garage door opener motar bit the dust. While very old, it had been working just fine, but that's how things die. It's not worth repairing as I honestly think it's the original from 1991. I can manually lift to open then close the garage door but that's going to be a hassle come fall and winter. I'll add to my list of house expenses before year end. I'm hoping I can find a company that will also replace the seals on the door as well and just have that job done. My son's minimal maintenance condo is looking pretty good to me.
The week ahead is pretty quiet, but I'm determined to tackle purging. I'm meeting a friend if the weather holds out for a concert by the river Thursday night and Saturday night is family book club. Anyone available is going to do our park cleanup too as we didn't get that done yet in the spring. I used to be more of a summer person so am trying hard to lean into the things I enjoy. Just like the extreme cold of winter, I'm less tolerant of the extreme heat and humidity in the summer. These months will pass quickly.
