Monday Morning Thoughts With a Few From Sunday

I seem to start these thought posts to wrap up the weekend, kick off the week on Sundays, but either don't finish or rush so thought I'd just wait to hit publish on Monday as a few more things pop into my head in the morning. It was a good weekend.

Here's pup; he'll wander around rooms smelling, getting himself stuck between things. This was at my daughters. He seemed to like being there.

On Friday morning into early afternoon, Pup and I hung out with grand pup at my daughters. She was supposed to have only a short event to cover, but things changed and he would have been left way too long without being let out. That was a nice diversion to my week as I could run to the cheese store and nab the loss leaders at her very expensive grocery store in town, but with fabulous digital deals some weeks. Friday night I watched the US -Paraguay game. It's sort of a hunt to find where the World Cup games might be broadcast but found on free Tubi. Peacock is airing them but in Spanish, so while I won't understand much, I can still watch.

I finished my family book club book, Friends with Secrets on Saturday, then went to my sisters. She did a fun dinner, make your own pizza hotdish, using mini pans and tons of different topping variations. She also turned on the blenders to make Bushwackers and Mud Slides.  I host in July and won't be so ambitious! She and her husband are the ultimate hosts and regularly have friends and neighbors for sociable gatherings planned and spur of the moment. People will ask, what's hot dish? Its our Minnesota thing for casserole. If you call a dish a casserole in Minnesota, you sound hoity-toity, lol. I linked the blender drinks with recipes in their name above. I had a Bushwacker.

Throwback mug to my working days. Nice to leave the pointless behind and "office" outside.

Friday and yesterday both were dusting and vacuuming days after coffee. Between the windows open or forced AC on humid days, pet fluff, and just a general urge to tidy and have fresh surfaces, every other day seems necessary. I know some people that are much tidier and have higher standards than me do both of these daily. I read my Mom's Club book club book, Warrior Girl Unearthed later and while the NHL game was on in the background. It's still odd to me that two cities/states not known for ice hockey are in the finals, South Carolina and Las Vegas. Can you imagine the AC bills in those arenas to keep the ice frozen in June? Of course, hockey is year round everywhere now, if not the actual season,  it's preseason, camps, and training. Oh, congrats to the Carolina Hurricane!

That was a lot of nonimportant rambling but it feels ok to have non important stuff on my plate. This week I've got a PT session for my hip, my second shingles vaccine, and a meet up with my former work team. I'm very overdue to have coffee or a meal with my MIL and will see if that might work Thursday or Friday. I'm about to go mow the grass in the front and sides. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll do the back as well as that's pretty quick. I need weeding done, wacking and pulling, and should get the loppers out for twiggy things and sprouting trees where I don't want trees. No grand pup this week as my daughters off work as she had accumulating vacation time and needed a deserved break. I'll walk to the store for fruit to bring to book club at some point as well, with enough time to prep it for a plate or bowl. I hope you have a very good week.
