Positively Tuesday, April 7, 2026
It was a wet, cold, dreary Easter weekend, but Sunday had some spots of warmth and sun before sprinkles and gray skies returned. I think the weather is breaking nice again by weeks end, but yesterday was biting cold despite the sunshine. As I've never been a fan of Tuesday's, I've been using them to try and recap anything positive, joyful, or smile worthy to try and lighten up my Tuesday moods.
- First the big news I've been dropping hints about. Meet Little Mister, my son's new companion for Little Miss. He's a handsome young man of just over 5 months. She loves when my daughters cats are here, almost grieves when they go home. He felt she really needed a permanent partner in crime. Sigh! At some point all three will leave my house, but I get to love on him too in the meantime. It's been a bit of an adjustment for the older girl but he's very inquisitive and loving. I don't think pup has figured out there's two cats here. We'll get him introduced to grandpup tonight after doggie daycare. Slow steps as he's a lot of dog.

From adoption site as I haven't been
able to get a good new picture yet.
He's both on the move and has carved
out a hiding/ snooze place. - Easter was a very nice and calm day. I attended the contemporary service, last of morning, and appreciated the pace and music. For Easter dinner, while we were a small table, the company was good. I hit the easy button and made spiral cut ham in the crock pot, and made ahead simple sides to toss in the oven an hour before we ate. I used my china and crystal despite the easy dinner.

- The youth at church were doing their bake sale so of course I had to help the cause and bring home a bit of treats. I'll try and recreate these for future events as could see these work at Christmas, baby or wedding showers, or part of a little appetizer and dessert bar.
- Had a very nice couple of email exchanges with a few blogger friends about travel opportunities, politics, parenting young adult kids, and pollinators plants to name a few subjects, beyond what might be in a post comment.
- While I have moments where my hip is not in pain, it's far from back to early March. I think I really hurt it in Greece and tried to push through and likely made it worse on the long journey home.(Admitedly, I was biting back tears by the time I got my bag checked in Athens, and no longer biting back with the awkward Vienna transfer.) The positive is that I can get back in with the same specialist I originally worked with on my knee. I trust her fully and know she'll work through all options for healing and not jump to surgery quickly.
- Congratulations to Michigan and UCLA for winning the men's and women's NCAA basketball championships. I was happy a Big 10 school finally won again, and UCLA was who eliminated Minnesota so at least they lost to the best. It means nothing to my life, but a fun March, now into April, distraction.
- Tomorrow is exactly one year from my last day of full time employment. While I'm figuring out retirement life and miss many of the people, I honestly can say I don't regret the decision. That's a good feeling to have.
My son's resumed his home search, looking at something tomorrow, but market is slim. He and kitty's are welcome as long as he wants and by May, he'll be away for most weekends for work or at the lake homes, so a fall move is easier anyway. That's my good things right now to be positive about.
Lots of positives today. Welcome to Little Mister! Lucky cat has found his forever home with your son (and you for now). I hope the specialist can help your hip. Travel can be so hard on our body.
ReplyDeleteMy son might never have children but he's definitely a cat dad now. Im hopefuk for my consult.
DeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE black cats, especially male black cats. For the first time in as long as I can remember, we don’t have one in the household. Plenty of cats, mind you, but no black males. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are so pretty! We are in a sugar overload. Since I am silly with eggs from our chickens I am baking loads of pound cakes. I also made turtles and peanut butter eggs. Well, on Easter,
My neighbor (not my beloved neighbor from my farm but my immediate next door neighbor) came over with some homemade chocolates. (I had given her a mini marble pound cake loaf and beeswax candles.) Sons tried them and said we now have to move, because they are better than
mine. Some people are so talented!!

Those little sugar cookies are aptly named. Pure sugar and one goes a longcwayvto sugar overload. Your pound cakes sound wonderful. Just wait until strawberry season.
DeleteAdorable black cat! we dog sat over the weekend, and it was very fun. I woke up & Sam was sleeping in the living area near the dog's bed, to keep an eye on her & make sure she "felt comfortable in a new place". So cute. Those cookies would absolutely be my jam. Yum! - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteThat's very sweet. I bet the dogs parents felt so safe for him being in your care. The cookies are sugar over load. Im glad it's a small plate.
DeleteAwww, such a handsome kitty. The cookies are perfection. I love me a good sugar cookie.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
These are decorated adorably too.
DeleteSince my favorite thing is beer in a crystal goblet, you'll get no judgement from me. What a sweet new kitty baby! Also, its so great to hear that retirement is not the monster I think it is...I am slowly warming to the idea.
ReplyDeleteMy dsughter does that with kombucha. I've not even scratched the surface of using my retirement since the year was a whirlwind. This year I'll settle into my new norms better.
DeleteA lovely list of positivities to carry through the week!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good week. There were some lies and misses but that's for another day.
DeleteI do love black cats, and they have a definite character type don’t they
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
He's such a special guy. Hus Foster family said he was a hard one to let go and I can see why. He's cautious of the big dog but not panicky so see him adjusting even more day by day. He just loves to rub and give love.
DeleteI volunteer as tribute to eat extra cookies! They look delicious. Welcome to another grandcat! He is adorable, my sister got a kitten from my boss' daughter, and got another afterwards - apparently now the recommendation is two kittens at a time so they keep each other company. Happy retirement anniversary to you- thank you for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteThat's why my daughter got cat two- emotianal support cat to her emotional support cat. Little Mister seems to be blending in just fine.
DeleteOh, Little Mister is so cute! I think cats do grieve when other cats leave them. Those cookies are really cute. It's so great to support our youth like that. Best of luck to your son on his search for a home.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Belinda. He's not rushing but know he wants and space that's his. I'll be making decisions in the next 5 years too so having everyone settled will make decisions easier.
DeleteWow a year! It doesn't seem that long.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your son for looking. My son keeps saying he's going to buy a house, but he hasn't really looked yet. Sigh. Sometimes I threaten that we'll leave before him and he can buy the house from us lol
Awww, Little Mister looks like William, what a beautiful new addition to the family, a house panther!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you're struggling with your hip, too. My unoperated hip and both knees were terrible after my hip replacement, the surgeon said the pain was probably always there but drowned out from the pain from the ruined hip, those poor old joints had to support the failing one. Luckily everything settled down eventually.
I did have a blip in 2013 when I went a bit too crazy with my 24 hour festival partying and had an intravenous steriod injection perfomed in an operating theatre at my local hospital - it wasn't very pleasant but it worked. In the meantime , try doing some lunges at home - they really help ease the tightness and strengthen the area . There's lots of helpful how-to videos on YouTube. xxx
