Sunday Thoughts It's Now Fall

Or is tomorrow officially fall? I never remember if the seasons change on the 20th or 21st, but my weather alert text said today's the last day of summer.
"Last day of summer! Increased sunshine with warmer highs in the mid-70s, isolated severe storms possible. Pleasant weather this week."
It's a perfect morning sitting outside while the dogs play and I have my coffee. I've had a good weekend so far and am ok with getting some rain. Though, my daughter is working a festival and rain could keep crowds away. She's helping her friend in the food truck, but was hopeful she'd see some good return on her time in tips. Yesterday I met her roommate at the finish line of younger daughters 1/2 Marathon. Her time was not unexpected as she really paced herself at a slow steady run. We had a nice lunch after. Later I joined family for a perfect night for a fire at my sister's. My BIL grilled burgers and hotdogs and others brought sides. Never a shortage of food.
I'll do a good tidy including dusting and vacuuming and bathrooms need cleaning. I'll watch church before football. I took bean soup out of the freezer and that will be fine for a late lunch, no breakfast or dinner after all the food yesterday. I find a day (or two) of light eating after a heavier day helps me manage the splurges. I should do meal planning and grocery shop needs are mostly just fresh produce and dairy.
I thought last week was going to be slow, but Sunday to yesterday I was busy. This week really should be slower. I've a AAUW regular meeting tomorrow night with a salad supper. I'd like to play trivia Wednesday but that will be wait and see where my energy level is because things have really been neglected in the house and outside and should use my days when not doing paid work to get caught up. The garage needs more purging and sorting before the cold weather comes. Plus, with trips coming up, staying home helps me not spend. I hope you have a pleasant Sunday.
Staying home helps me not spend either. I wanted to get some almond milk, but it can wait until tomorrow as I have an appointment right next to the grocery store. Bean soup sounds good, I’m roasting a chicken for dinner and will serve green beans with onions as the side. Trivia sounds like fun, my friend Linda told me I should play bingo. I don’t even know if they have bingo here or not. I hope you enjoy your Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThere's no shortage of bingo options near me. I believe at least three places hold it weekly plus lm 200 minutes from a Tribally owned casino with a huge bingo hall. I stopped very late Saturday night for bread, eggs, and bananas but no real shop.
DeleteI'm excited today is the last day of Summer. It was a really good summer but I'm ready for fall. Now just to get mother nature to cooperate. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWe really got the rain after 8:00 last night to usher out summer.
DeleteIts 95 here, so Fall feels weeks away. I did love working on my garage when I started seeing progress.
ReplyDeleteI was once in Texas in October and forgot how hot it stays well into fall. There's just still so much to purge before winter...again.
DeleteI am impressed with your attention to housekeeping (your tidying comment) matters. I have not yet reestablished the habit post-last hospitalization and it shows...sigh. And yes, summer is ending. Tomorrow is first day of autumn--my very favorite season of the year--AND Rosh Hashanah starting at sunset, so a double day for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's been the bare minimum on house stuff but even that's behind. Bathrooms though need attention much more often but that slipped too. Fall is here.
DeleteI used to hate autumn because it meant the summer holidays were finished. Now I kinda like it because it feels nice to start hunkering down a little! And well done to your daughter on that half marathon!
ReplyDeleteI always liked the start of the school year. Now with one kid in sort of environmental education and if subbing, I b still associate school start and fall. I got her on video coming under the lift bridge and she was relieved.
DeleteIt was definitely chilly here this morning, enough to make me shiver and to remind me to get my gloves out! I also bought myself a new black scarf.
ReplyDeleteWe have that cool mornings very warm afternoon weather. It rained late last night so it feels fresh outside.
DeleteIt was really hot last week when I was in Minnesota! I was certainly glad when it cooled down a bit.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to being home for a little while. I am hoping to re-start my decluttering. It's been a while since I did any. I do need to watch my spending too. The trip to daughter's was unexpected.
Warm this week too after the sun gets high. My house is in chaos again. I need to buckle down before and after Florida.
DeleteSeptember always signal start of school followed by cooling weather. I still think I should be starting school!
ReplyDeleteI am in that same mindset. I start a new house notebook to give myself a fresh fall start reminiscent of starting school.
DeleteWe have had a lot of rain for the first few days of fall! I am hoping to see some leaves change colour though via a nice fall drive. Even though I am long past school days, it also feels like a fresh start time for me too!
ReplyDeleteThey say we'll be several weeks behind peek here, but that's fine by me since I'll be gone almost a week. I'll get back to good colors.
DeleteI hope by now Thursday it has been a good week for you so far.
ReplyDeleteThank you Spo. It's been an ok week.
