Strange and Change Weekend Update

It was easier to write an update than respond to all the kind comments. No news on my sister yet. She's got some strong meds and more doctor visits, and is at least more comfortable than Friday. We don't really know what's happening other than it involves her breathing and GI system,  related or separate. For her privacy, and to not mix up anything, that's about all I'll say. The sister hospitalized last week when her COPD and throat issues became so severe has rechecks this week.

Later in the morning, I received news my cousin that recently started hospice care passed away late Sunday. She had no immediate family, all siblings died before her and she had no children. Her nieces, my second cousins, are setting up a celebration of life for mid August. In texts in my family group, my older siblings called her the cool cousin. She had a busy, adventure filled life but ended up back in her hometown in her 60's.

As for pets, kitten is back to being a menace, but still eating and drinking slow so a bug of some sort. I was able to get pup in to see the vet and we are fortunate. Nothing major in his leg, no break, tumors ( my real fears), and seemed to them to be arthritis and age related. He got some heavy sleepy drugs for the X-rays, meds for pain and stiffness, so took him a while to perk up. He also was prescribed a twice a day pill, sort of heavy duty ibuprofen for senior dogs. He'll need his blood checked again in two weeks for any kidney distress it might cause. If it works and no issues, he'll stay on it and have annual blood monitoring. Well, I can say it did wonders! He was himself this morning, with just a bit of favoring that leg.

I scheduled his dental work to coincide with the blood tests for August 14th. He'll get a final summer shave too and be all kinds of angry when he comes home. But, there's every reason to think we've got a few more good years with him.

  4. All my love. Glad the pets are doing better. As for people, it used to irritate me so when I was younger to hear my elders respond to any worldly gripe “Ah, well, you have your health.” I get it now.

  5. This was a lot for you to be dealing with. I hope your sisters both improve and I am saddened for the loss of your cousin.
The silver lining is the good news about both pets.
