Chaos of the Back Yard

It may not look much better in a month or two, but thought I'd share what I'm starting with in my back yard. I had to do in a few short videos, but I think you'll get the idea of the chaos I'm working with. This is just the fenced in back. I've got two sides and the front to work on as well. Baby steps, right?

Life's been challenging and I can't commit to any timeline or project completion date. I'll incorporate yard work as I can, a bit each day weather permitting, taking any help offered. I've rambled on so much, I thought visually seeing the starting place might put a picture to the mountain of work I'm taking on.

Edit: I filmed this on Friday. Over the weekend, we got two hours of rain and the bit of green that has burst through already makes me feel more positive about this. It's still going to be a beast, but any little progress will be satisfactory.

* I've been making a few posts ahead of time. I might need to pause for a bit, but this like others, was written ahead and scheduled to be published.

  3. It's so lovely to hear your spoken voice after reading your written one for so many years. Little and often and you'll get there with your garden x

  6. My brother always tells me, if you can dream it you can do it.
It looks like you have the perfect size back yard. Not too big, not too small. Ours is way too big and I wonder sometimes what we were thinking.

  7. I have a friend who had a back yard that needed much love. When she remarried and had some help she fretted about the amount of work it would take and didn't know where to begin. Her new husband said they would start in one corner and once they were done with it would move outward. It took them a couple of years, but the end result was gorgeous and they accomplished it without killing themselves.
Just remember it is not a race!

  8. I'm looking forward to watching your progress - as you say, baby steps! I was out in my back garden for an hour this afternoon and feel so much better for it.

  9. It's a great project to take on and every bit works towards the future goal. That's what I'm telling myself as I'm trying to declutter the house. I think working in the garden when there are digging dogs around is a losing battle! Daughter and son-in-law just get one thing patched up another hole appears.

  10. I think it is a fantastic space! Love your patio! I wouldlike that in my back yard but it goes under water when it rains a lot. I think the raised beds you have will be awesome out there. Cindy in the South

  11. If get one small thing, tomato or flower, in the yard, I have to go out and look at it multiple times each day. I am so proud of it. You will always need a paver or twenty. If I could give you my raised beds, I would! It will all come together for you no matter how slowly you are able to work.

  12. One small step at a time dear friend. Make one small section of garden that makes you happy and the rest will follow at its own pace. Enjoy being outdoors.
