Final Two Months of 2026

2026 is feeling faster than more recent years. Maybe because I was just trying to get from one month, one date of significance to the next, and living in a bit of limbo. I actually feel like I'm more in an acceptance mode, but more than that, a forward thinking mode. Even how I feel I'm approaching the year end holidays feels more forward thinking. I've got family birthday celebrations and Thanksgiving to enjoy before really turning attention to Christmas. I'm puttering though on the Christmas edges. Notice I said enjoy and not my phrase of the last three year, "to get through."

Even with staying on the edges, there's some time sensitivity I need to pay attention to. My calendar needs updating so I don't miss things I want to do and conflicts to avoid if possible. In some cases tickets to secure, which means dates to note ticket sales begin like a couple holiday concerts. I'm including all these extras as either in my holiday budget or entertainment. So far, one play ticket has been bought and none too soon as seats for our

Table setting at last years holiday brunch.

Here's what's on my calendar so far:

  • Nov 7  Sister day + book club
  • Nov 8 Celebrating dayghters birthday
  • Nov 17 Tuesday Fall concert
  • Dec 4 Nieces Womens Dessert Service
  • Dec 5 A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie
  • Dec 12 AAUW holiday brunch and women's product drive for family services
  • Dec 13 Celebrating sons birthday
  • Dec 17 Soup and Sliders, friends gathering
  • Dec 24 Christmas Eve at my sisters
  • Dec 25 Christmas Day with in laws, probably at MIL's but without her doing a thing!
  • Dec 31 NYE, probably quiet evening with me doing pet care
  • Jan 1 Pending "euchre" tournament with college football bowl games at my sisters
Of course there's also two moms book clubs in there, Vikings, Wild, and Timberwolves watch "parties", gift shopping, treat making days and little extras that pop up like craft shows or bazaars,  and maybe a holiday market. I'm disappointed that a couple farm stores have called it quits. They were a fun, low stress wander to pick up odds and ends. I noted the highschool and local community college concerts but haven't committed to going, but for the HS choir concert, tickets need to be bought ahead as seating gets tight.

It is a silly busy season. It feels good though to look forward to time with family and friends, enjoy the sparkle. There'll be plenty of cozy quiet days and nights though too. Sunday felt so dark, so early,  but with candles lit, I almost didn't miss the sun, but talk to me mid January and I'll be ready for longer days.

  1. You certainly have a full calendar. Don't forget to give yourself some grace and catch your breath from time to time! May your days be full of love and laughter as we wrap up 2026!
