Update from Blogger, Coffee with Rhitter

 We have a nice blog community and when folks leave, I  know people often check in with each other. On her behalf, this is from Rhitter, Coffee with Rhitter, who's not ready to resume blogging, but wanted to share an update.

"Hi Everyone - This is Rhitter. I've asked Sam to provide a life update. First of all, I am okay. Not great, but okay. I withdrew a significant amount of money from my 401K to pay my debt off. Now, I am fighting with the IRS to get a refund. (I should not have withheld so much). That's okay. But the biggest life change is that I moved into my own place. My apartment is a five-minute walk to my daughter's, so I am still able to help, which I do. The apartment is not perfect, but it's my own space. And I am reclaiming my independence and my health. My daughter still needs help financially, but it's nowhere near what it was. And being debt-free has allowed me to do so. Yes, I have to rebuild my retirement savings, but that is ongoing. I miss blogging, but I have enjoyed the break. I needed it. I'll return to it one day, but I think it needs to have a different voice.


But for now, I'll keep you posted via the few friends who have reached out. Sending love and blessings."

    Thank you so much for being the conduit for Rhitter’s update. I have wondered how she is doing and have missed her blog. You, Hawaii Planner and Coffee w/Rhitter have been some of my favorite blogs.

Cancelled

      Twice Friday I was notified of cancellations. First, my original flight to Athens in March was cancelled and they rescheduled...two days later!What for the sake of Pete is that crappy rescheduling?  Sure, I want to fly  and sit in layovers for 17 hours just to lose two days of my vacation. I rejected that reschedule obviously my. Lots of back and forth with options presented with multiple four+ hour layovers, and eventually landed on one that diggers by about four hours total from the original, but is a 2-stop. I kept reminding myself the journey is part of the opportunity and round trip tickets to Greece from Minnesota for $600 are about as low as a person can find. This was why I bought my Kindle as to do more and frequent travel, I'll have to exchange time, lots of layover time, for money.      Then, several hours later, as I'm checking for updates on the flight, I got notification of another cancellation.                                             For Friday Fiscal Wellness Check,  I copy the previous week, delete the old and updated as I go along the week as a way even when busy and not in a blogging mindset, I'm accountable to myself.  Here's my recap of Friday, August 15 to Thursday, August 21. I just sort of list things as they come up, then edit before publishing.  Avoiding Spending/ Saving on Needs Still on target to reduce my monthly HHG budget by $75. I'm trying to do this for a couple months before a big stock up again in late October before I leave  Here's a biggy and a WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO HARD savings. I really pushed for an evaluation of my car and homeowners insurance. Voila, a cummulative $1800+ annual savings because I  got a competitive quote.
