Positively Tuesday March 31, 2026

The weather has been true to Minnesota with 20°+ daytime high differentials, frost on cars and risk of sunburn in the afternoon on the same day. As I've never been a fan of Tuesday's,  I've been using them to try and recap anything positive, joyful, or smile worthy to try and lighten up my Tuesday moods.

  • Pup is doing so well after last weeks scare. He's been very good about his meds including the twice daily shots. He hasn't had an accident since Friday.
  • March is done today and a fresh new month starts tomorrow.  It was definitely a month of highs and lows. I'm looking forward to April showers as that will mean the remains of the crappy winter can get washed away truly making way for growth. I'm not looking forward to the possibility of snow on Easter Sunday.
  • I think long time blog readers know I'm a sports fan, basketball being a favorite as I both played and coached in younger years. I've thoroughly enjoyed the NCAA tournament, aka March Madness. With Minnesota out on the women's side after their sweet 16 loss, I have no team in the battle but just enjoyed some really good games this weekend. My brackets are a total shambles, lol.
  • Having to clear cupboards and drawers forced me to tackle the dreaded "lower drawer" I swear all households have. This had literally decades of old paperwork, photos, and miscellaneous paper clutter, most was set aside for destruction. Now I have a full drawer to start cluttering again.

  • Keeping myself accountable here. While I'm frustrated at myself for putting back on so much weight after having lost a healthy amount leading up to and post knee surgery, I've lost all the weight I put on from Greece and two pounds more. Granted, much was probably water weight gain, but I'm two pounds less than before the trip. I've a long road to get back to the weight I was a year ago, and even longer to get to a healthy BMI ( factoring my nonexist muscle tone), but it's a start rather than a throwing in the towel.
  • We met a very sweet young man who will be a part of our lives. More to come on this.
The rest of the week will be very busy getting the kitchen back together, cleaning the house, shopping for then cooking a nice Easter dinner. I have my daughters dog for the weekend too. Pup needs to get his blood rechecked and fingers crossed, his sugars are balanced after the last week of medications. He's still got several more days of antibiotics. This is all manageable and I'm happy to enter April with a running start.

  1. Glad to read that pup is doing well. Hope that continues. Weight gain is a constant battle for me, and I sympathize with you! How fun that you have a drawer to re-clutter! Fill it up wisely :)

    1. It's more frustrating to have lost so much and then out so much back on in a short time. Im going to really think about what goes in that drawer...maybe some baking dishes instead of paper.

    1. He's old so some things are just inevitable but if he can be more comfortable I owe it to him.

  5. Can you believe we're already into April??? It seems like just yesterday it was Christmas! But I hope you get the rain you need to get rid of all that snow. Winter is lovely, but it's just as lovely when it leaves too!

  8. Love the list of positives, and well done on getting back to your pre-vacation weight. It can be hard to make that happen so quickly. Nice work! - Hawaii Planner

    1. It's a amazing that with all the walking I managed to gain so much in 10 days, but do think much was water retention from swollen joints. Still, extra alcohol, bigger breakfasts than I'd ever have at home, and just generally treating myself added up. I'm back to trying to treat my body better whike my hip is still wonky.

  10. Everyone has a drawer of doom. Now we've downsized I have even less places to store/hide stuff. Glad pup is now doing well. My very spoilt cat Miss Sheva is lying stretched out on our bed. She will stir herself about 4.30 and come down demanding to be fed - NOW! Xx

    1. I keep saying I'm on a 10 year timeline here before I figure that I'll want minimal upkeep and downsize and hope the buyers market has some great single level living options. Until then, I hope each weekI can fully purge a space so when the time comes, I'll move essentials only. Pup has anout 1 hour in between his 6 hour naps of activity.

  11. I think your weather pattern is the same as we're getting in Michigan. Spring will get her soon, I hope! I need to get out and walk to help shed the extra pounds I've up on.

  13. I'm glad Pup is doing so well after all he's been through. The weather here has definitely warmed up and we have the air running today already. I was down two pounds when I weighed in this morning and I'm happy for that. Like you, I still want to lose some more weight though. Good job on decluttering. I just came up from downstairs after going through more boxes of mail from my parents. As always, it's a work in progress.
