Sunday Night Thoughts Posted Monday

      I enjoyed the Super Bowl and the halftime show. If fools want to explode on the Internet arguing about entertainment performed in Spanish in the middle of a football field, they're free to do it and look ridiculous doing so. Did I know any of the music? No, but to be fair, I rarely know anything music wise in the last decade; just ask my trivia friends just how unhelpful I am in certain sound rounds. The wedding was a real wedding I learned! Pedro Pascal and Jessica Alba dancing on the porch. The old men playing dominoes. How much more wholesome do people want?  Green Day was phenomenal to open the game and the always wonderful Brandi Carlile's America the Beautiful would bring a tear to a Patriots eye. (Maybe that's why the Patriots fell so flat on the field, too choked up, lol).

Green Day

     It was a small gathering. I ate too much pizza and as it's been ages since I made black bean and corn salsa ( some call it Cowboy Caviar), I went to town on it with tortilla chips, and on the charcuterie board. I will be sorry Monday (yes I am as I edit this before posting and feel dehydrated) so drinking lots of water, eating fruit, and getting myself moving is the plan. 

     I missed the eagle-pony Bud commercial but my sisters said it was the best so I had to find it. It is incredible. 


     Mike Tyson had some weight loss commercial and I can't remember the brand, but I caught he described people as getting too fudgey. That's it! That's the perfect word to describe how my weight fits on my body. 

     I got caught up on Olympic news after the game. Figure skating is always beautiful to watch and happy for the US team. Japan was phenomenal. Their pairs performance, just wow! I feel so bad for Lyndsey Vonn, Minnesota wonder. It would have been tremendous to see her do well, but now I just hope she fully recovers after the horrific crash and can enjoy her life. 

     And another jab at the exploding Internet, people can STFU about athletes not kissing up to politicians and actually appreciate that many are in the juxtaposition to be both incredibly grateful that they are at the Olympics representing the US and simultaneously not condone carte blanche what they see, hear, and experience by the same US. Pearl clutchers saying " the Olympics is not the place" yada, yada, seem to forget a lot of Olympic history.

      I've got a slow week ahead and am OK with that. A cancellation at the dentist meant they could fit in my hopefully last of the four procedures. Even though I just made it last week, I have more ingredients for chicken noodle soup so might make today or tomorrow for Tuesday. I'm still feeding my sister's cat this week and she's having a great time in the Mexican sun. I've got an airport run Friday for another sister. I'll try being more intentional with my free time. My laundry has piled up and more purging is in order. Those are my Sunday night thoughts as Monday starts. Have a good week.

    I didn't watch the super bowl but am ready to find the half time show to watch after your comments - thanks. I am going to steal the mantra of being more intentional with my free time - much needed this winter.

      I should say, I enjoyed as part of the whole Super Bowl extravaganza. I likely wouldn't go search to watch again as it would be a different feel. But, as part of the game break, it was enjoyable.

    I skipped both the Super Bowl and the beginnings of the Olympics. I am a fan of structuring your free time in a way that aligns with what you currently need. And sometimes, you do NEED a slow week and charcuterie. (:

      I'm a big football fan and the Superbowl is a game I look forward too. I can see non fans would want to spend their time elsewhere. No more cheese and sausage for a while for me.

    I didn't watch the Super bowl since we aren't sports fans, but I don't understand how the halftime show was so offensive? I can't understand the lyrics of English speaking singers most of the time. ;) I agree with his message,"the only thing more powerful than hate, is love."
    We did watch the Olympic opening ceremony and enjoyed it. Last I heard, the US still has freedom of speech, and those athletes can represent their country while not condoning what this regime is doing.

      Fake outrage because they were told to be outraged is my theory. But put a taped program made of derelict has been and never weres sure schooled 150 million plus viewers.

    I read your comment about your sister's cat as your sister's cat sitting in the Mexican sun, and I was like, 'Hmm, is that a local thing?' 😄

    I echo many of your thoughts in today's post, Sam. I do my best to avoid the negative noise, though I always respond to it if someone places it in front of me. Honestly, I won't start things, but I will surely finish them.

    Half time show was incredible! I should be applying "being more intentional with my time" at the moment as I flip through FB etc at the moment. I have a gazillion things I want to get to and need to motivate myself.

      They're supposed to just be fun and entertainment and of course, people will get their point of views expressed in their art form. It's always been that way. The racism is loud and Spanish language "outrage" is hilarious.

      I like football and the Seahawks are a favorite when not playing Minnesota so it was a good package for me.

    I like listening to your post retirement thoughts as they somewhat mirror mine after I retired a couple of years ago. I am great at trivia, people like having me on their teams.. Except music - I am just terrible. Anyone after the mid 1970's I don't know at all. Even now I have greatest hits of the 60's playing in the background as I am online.

Cancelled

      Twice Friday I was notified of cancellations. First, my original flight to Athens in March was cancelled and they rescheduled...two days later!What for the sake of Pete is that crappy rescheduling?  Sure, I want to fly  and sit in layovers for 17 hours just to lose two days of my vacation. I rejected that reschedule obviously my. Lots of back and forth with options presented with multiple four+ hour layovers, and eventually landed on one that diggers by about four hours total from the original, but is a 2-stop. I kept reminding myself the journey is part of the opportunity and round trip tickets to Greece from Minnesota for $600 are about as low as a person can find. This was why I bought my Kindle as to do more and frequent travel, I'll have to exchange time, lots of layover time, for money.      Then, several hours later, as I'm checking for updates on the flight, I got notification of another cancellation. So Very Tired

      Apologies to Michb as I think I deleted her comment from my last post. I've never read anything but kindness from you, so please know the lost comment was not intended. I'm just really tired- who knows if others were deleted too. Any supportive comments are appreciated, though likely won't be discussing my in-laws in my blog much in the future. It's not fair for me to write about them or have any expectations.      We think the raccoon issue is resolved, but not before yet another call. It's not cheap to have critter incursions resolved. I was lamenting to my son that maybe I shouldn't try and keep the house. He's a help of course, but this isn't his long term plan, or quite frankly intermediary plan.
