End of Summer Juggle
Does this look comfortable? If the old dog could get up I'd have a third pet tucking me in tight under my covers. Little Miss is very greedy with bed space. The blankets at the end are of course for extra warmth if needed, touch of soft decor when not, but really they provide a barrier between my feet and her determined attacks with full claw.
August is winding down quite busy and also not if that makes sense. My kids are very busy so I'm on more pet detail, but that means I can stay home weekends and evenings guilt free and with no fear of missing out. I'm not feeling very sociable anyway though last Thursday meeting my friend who I hadn't seen since December was very nice and needed.
I forgot how tiring and feeling in demand working is. The good thing, I have a calendar stop that's firm, and the other is outside of meetings, I can work on the project deliverables at my time. I plan to spend a significant number of hours this weekend creating the start of a couple resource tools. I'll be home alone for the most part.
With vet payment, the new insurance policies, and a few other one time purchases on my credit card, 2nd half taxes due in October, and money for my trip by November, I need to juggle timing and shift where money sits. I will not carry any credit card balance either but seeing an $8,000 balance is eye watering! There's also Christmas and end of year donations to account for. Basically, I'm draining a couple sinking funds. Now that my insurance premiums are lower, I'll work to refill funds faster, so I tell myself. It's a bit stressful though right now. But, the money is there, more will come with regular retirement transfers, and of course once I receive contract work payment. The funds just are not in the checkbook.
It's probably just as well the moms Florida trip in October didn't get settled. It was going to be on a budget but still a chunk of money to find and work into the cash flow juggle. We're looking at a day trip. We have one friend who doesn't drink at all so we'd have a safe driver should the call of wineries and brewery's strike. I have a few on my list. I should get rolling with the day. I log in 30 minutes before my first meetings and stay on 30 after the last but in between is either off line work or non work hours. I'm juggling this too.

I think pets on beds are wonderful . Milo agrees - particularly if the sheets are freshly laundered
ReplyDeleteVery much looking forward to your visit in November

Truth be told, I'd prefer not to have them on the bed, but they now both outnumber and out cute me.
DeleteLooks like my bed at night. I usually have three cats in my bed. 😆
ReplyDeleteThey take up so much room for their size.
DeleteWe had dogs but they were never allowed on the bed, at least at night. WHo knows what went on during the day when we were not home.
ReplyDeleteI always said that too, until pup figured out ways and was obscure. He can't get up now. I just don't bother kicking big guy out.
DeleteI am tired enough this morning that when I pulled up your blog, I thought it read "End of Summer Jungle," and I thought immediately of my vegetable garden. I needed that unintended chuckle.
ReplyDeleteOh, my back yard sides are jungle like to be sure!
DeleteWhen Rascal and Wilbur was alive I had them and Charlotte up against me. I could only turn over it THEY turned first LOL
ReplyDeleteGetting out to use the bathroom is a work of physical agility!
DeleteAww. My cat would sleep on my shoulder so I couldn't move at all unless he got the zoomies at 3am. No vacation this year. Future plans to go to New Orleans. I've never been.
ReplyDeleteI've been to NOLA several times, but for work so not a true vacation it even then got to enjoy so many things.
DeleteSweet! They have tucked you in good and tight.
ReplyDeleteI usually can't sleep if our cats are tight against me, so I put them out of the bedroom. They have gotten sneaky though as they hide under the bed until I am asleep and then do their laps over the bed. :D
She's very wiley and manages to get in the door.
