Goals for May 2025

I've been thinking that I need a better way to focus with my new schedule. Obviously things are challenging to plan as I want to be as supportive to my brother and his family as possible, so that comes before most other goals. I like how The Hawaii Plan organized her monthly goals so copying borrowing her format. I hope you don't mind

Financial:

  • Stay on top of getting HSA reimbursement for May insurance premium
  • Follow-up to understand an additional post retirement benefit fee/ deposit and how I utilize this. It was related to the medical flex account but my understanding was that was done when I left employment.
  • Update budget/ cash flow for the two confirmation, one graduation, and wedding gifts this month
  • Only committing to one sub job but if things change, may be open to a second.
Family:
  • Take as many care shifts as needed.
  • Do one fun activity with each or kids collectively

Fitness:

  • Lose 5 pounds
  • Use the various walking, strength, eating tools blogged on Wednesdays
Personal
  • Purge enough in garage to get an accessible spot for the freezer
  • Donate husband's clothes, but store running shirts for future T-shirt blanket/ quilt. DAV pick up is scheduled for May 23
  • Meet up with at least one friend (already got this one yesterday but would be good to have another).
  • Purge 10 items of clothing
Other
  • Get raised beds set up and garden planted
  • Start border project on rock area with bricks I have so far
  • Take day myself to weed a sort of garden area at the lake. I want to do this when no one else is there. I can probably do in a few hours and it checks off part of my Families contribution to spring work.
  • Get rooms flipped for office upstairs
Perhaps this will give me a bit of direction where to put my time and effort.

  1. What a busy month you'll have if you accomplish all this stuff! Great goals, by the way. I had a t-shirt quilt made of my husband's favorites and it turned out to be one of my favorite things.

  2. A good variety of to do items and much to fit in. A t-shirt quilt is a lovely idea.

    1. I know I've seen a few quilters referenced on our community page to contact.

  3. After retiring I planned zero except meals, going to bed when tired and getting up when I wake up. Then, each evening I would write down a few things to accomplish the next day-or write it when drinking my first mug of coffee.

    Great health goals!

    1. I kind of did that the first two weeks. I don't do well with no structure at all...pure laziness kicks in, then I get depressed.

    1. Thanks to HP. I think a movie night is cozy afternoon with football cuddles with his shirts in a blanket will feel comforting.

  7. Bits and stages is my approach, but felt I needed some organization.

  8. I love a good list! May is jam packed for us with celebrations, appointments and fun things, but I’m going to keep up with exercise, and there’s a dresser drawer calling my name. I would also like to get all the blinds wiped down and my living room carpet cleaned, among other things. After a trip to Aldi today, my day is wide open so the goal is to be productive after a lazy day yesterday. JoAnn

    1. It's 4 days in and I too feel May is going to be busier than I wanted. That's life with family and friends so a good full.

  9. I am a bit of a list girl and I do honestly try to keep to my plans for the week but sometimes life just takes a different turn. I am still learning to not fret when I fail and just keep adding them to next week knowing that some things will have been achieved along the way.

    1. Unless they impact someone else, my plans are going to be flexible and fluid. You're right...move to the next week or day as needed.

  10. I admire your planning. I read this and think I should be doing the same; maybe I can follow your lead!

  12. This is a great list of goals! I'm hoping to survive May, which has a lot going on, between interviews & the end of Nick's senior year. I need a blend of productivity & fun, so we'll see what happens there! And, borrow away! Glad someone else finds the format useful. - Hawaii Planner
